Soso Does it All
Nkanyiso "Soso" Sibiya |
Most of you may just know him as the owner of a car wash, in Groutville. If that's the case then you know very little about Nkanyiso Sibiya, affectionately known as Soso.
Not only has he successfully ran the busiest car wash in Groutville, Soso has also worn (and continues to wear) a number of different caps.
His company, Silvie Trading, does events, fashion, music videos, artists promotion, charity programmes, construction, and trading amongst other things.
Not only has he successfully ran the busiest car wash in Groutville, Soso has also worn (and continues to wear) a number of different caps.
His company, Silvie Trading, does events, fashion, music videos, artists promotion, charity programmes, construction, and trading amongst other things.
The interesting part is that all this stems from a humble beginning in the Department of Health. "I started working in 2003, doing home-based care, visiting people with HIV and Aids" says the man who has played a vital role in promoting health care at schools and rural areas, through mobile clinics.
Fast forward to 2015. Soso has teamed up with Erica Ntonga to open "Precious Silvie Modelling Agency", and together they are currently working on what is set to be the biggest fashion phenomenon ever seen, in the North Coast.
Has lays it down: "we are working on Ballito Fashion Week- which is going to be the second big event I've ever done." This takes place on the 10th and 11th of December.
The first big event being the "Groutville Extreme Experience" car show, which attracted hundreds of motorists and car enthusiasts. And, in case you were wondering, iLembe Car Club and the now-popular Rich Gang were both born at this event, thanks to Soso.

The question, right now, may be: "How does he manage to do everything?"
His response: "You need to be up on your game at all times. You need to make sure that you think positive... know that once you've started something you're gonna end it... and you can't play around with time."
His response: "You need to be up on your game at all times. You need to make sure that you think positive... know that once you've started something you're gonna end it... and you can't play around with time."
Soso describes himself as unique, friendly, and approachable but at the same time an assertive good guy who likes helping people.
Although he attends church at UCCSA, he has secured a recording contract for the winner of a Zion church music competition that he will be running on the 28th of November. He is simply doing this because he feels that the Zion churches uniquely musical, yet they are often neglected.
He also encourages the public, not to neglect those in need. This is done through his charity programmes, where blankets and food items are donated during winter, and stationery, school uniform, and school fees and bursaries are given to learners during the "Back to School" campaign.
The latter seems to be close to Soso's heart, as he passionately advises the young ones: "education is the background of everything. You need to learn, you need to get your matric, you need to stay focused. You need to know what you want and you need to work for it."

For Soso - His biggest challenge is also what excites him the most. The unavailability of time encourages him keep on top of his game and enables him to overcome situations with huge amounts of pressure.

5 Things that successful people do everyday before 8am
Here's a little something for you 032NICE people, out there. I came across this on the Internet, this morning and I think it fits right in with the with the kind of motivation that we preach on this blog. I don't think you can really go wrong if you do follow these steps. I personally do engage in some of these activities in the morning and benefit greatly from them. Check them out:
1. Exercise.
It has been said, many times. Most people that work out daily, work out in the morning. Whether it’s a morning yoga session or a trip to the gym, exercising before work gives
you a boost of energy for the day and that deserved sense of accomplishment. Anyone can
tackle a pile of paperwork after 200 ab reps! Morning workouts also eliminate the possibility of flaking out on your cardio after a long day at work. Even if you aren’t bright eyed and bushy tailed at the thought of a 5 am jog, try waking up 15 minutes early for a quick bedside set of pushups or stretching. It’ll help wake up your body, and prep you for your day.

2. Map Out Your Day.
Maximize your potential by mapping out your schedule for the day, as well as your goals and to dos. The morning is a good time for this as it is often one of the only quiet times a person gets throughout the day. The early hours foster easier reflection that helps when prioritizing your activities. They also allow for uninterrupted problem solving when trying to fit everything into your timetable. While scheduling, don’t forget about your mental health. Plan a 10 minute break after that stressful meeting for a quick walk around the block or a moment of meditation at your desk. Trying to eat healthy? Schedule a small window in the evening to pack a few nutritious snacks to bring to work the next day.

3. Eat a Healthy Breakfast.
We all know that rush out the door with a cup of coffee and an empty stomach feeling. You sit down at your desk, and you’re already wondering how early umama wamagwinya sets up camp outside your office. No good. Take that extra time in the morning to fuel your body for the tasks ahead of it. It will help keep your mind on what’s at hand and not your growling stomach. Not only is breakfast good for your physical health, it is also a good time to connect socially. Even five minutes of talking with your kids or spouse while eating a quick bowl of oatmeal can boost your spirits before heading out the door.

4. Visualization.
These days we talk about our physical health ad nauseam, but sometimes our mental health gets overlooked. The morning is the perfect time to spend some quiet time inside your mind meditating or visualizing. Take a moment to visualize your day ahead of you, focusing on the successes you will have. Even just a minute of visualization and positive thinking can help improve your mood and outlook on your work load for the day.

5. Make Your Day Top Heavy.
We all have that one item on our to do list that we dread. It looms over you all day (or week) until you finally suck it up and do it after much procrastination. Here’s an easy tip to save yourself the stress – do that least desirable task on your list first. Instead of anticipating the unpleasantness of it from first coffee through your lunch break, get it out of the way. The morning is the time when you are (generally) more well rested and your energy level is up. Therefore, you are more well equipped to handle more difficult projects. And look at it this way, your day will get progressively easier, not the other way around. By the time your work day is ending, you’re winding down with easier to dos and heading into your free time more relaxed. Success!

DJ Tecknics: Respect Brings Local Support
Those of you who know very little about the local entertainment scene, will at least know DJ Tecknics, or Zwide, as he is affectionately known. This party starter, has achieved a tremendous amount of goals over the years. One of these was his childhood dream of getting to travel abroad. He achieved this, a few years ago when he got to promote his debut album in Swaziland and Botswana. Another great feature in his list of achievements is getting to work with DJ Sbu and the SLEF team on school and township motivations. He says: "working with DJ Sbu is an achievement alone because nobody just goes to the school talks. You have to be chosen."
In his quest to keep local dance floors vibrant, he has had to go through challenge after challenge, ranging from things like inadequate platforms, the absence of high quality studios, and unwilling funders. "As an entertainer, getting sponsors is not easy... we still send out proposals to relevant companies or people but we get no response..." he says. "...we continue doing events from our pockets".
Against these odds, Tecknics continues to displays how much he values optimism and persistence. "Most people say the Municipality must sponsor..." he says, "meanwhile they are chilling"
Smiling, staying humble, and keeping close with his fans is the key to gaining local support, according to Tecknics. He says "I don't distance myself from anybody, I take advice from anyone and I keep the smile on..."
Dj Tecknics promised himself, when he started DJ-ing that he would never make any enemies, and to date he does not remember ever fighting with anybody.
This God fearing, humble soul has given and equally received respect from 032 locals. He says "I'm what I am because of KwaDukuza peeps. Everywhere I go I'll find someone who'll say 'bhuti uyathandwa eStanger. Sitshelwa ngawe all the time'. [Brother you are loved in Stanger. We are being told about you all the time] "

Just like Zola 7 and DJ Sbu, our very own DJ Tecknics has dreams of supporting and uplifting local talent. Apart from running a local football team, he also provides a platform for a large number of local DJs through his events.
Hopefully Mpumalanga and East London are ready for Tecknics, as he will be rocking them, soon. He is also on top of plans to get East London musicians to come and expose their talents in KwaDukuza. His long list of plans for this year includes events at major local venues like Culture Lifestyle Bar, Saxone Lounge and Palmland BnB.
Also look out for is his album, to be released soon, under Big Punch Media - which will feature (among others) afro soul sensation, Lesego.
TipandTeck, will also be hitting dance floors soon as Tecknics teams us with DJ Tip.
It's business as usual for his Gass Stove and Coldroom hiring company, while he works on opening an Internet Café in Shakaville in the near future.
DJ Tecknics is a full time hustler, no doubt. A party cannot start without him and it never ends until he says so.

Do Not Just Settle: Stand Out Like Lunga Ntuli
Lunga Ntuli |
Lunga Ntuli is more than just a self-published
author, who serves in the DUT Department
of Sports Studies' advisory board, freelances publications like Isolezwe,
GSports and Sunday Times and also works as a sports mental coach.
This serial achiever has served as a
soccer coach instructor, media liason for giant sports bodies, and as a coach
for a women's cricket club - which he started. Also worth noting is the
sponsorship work he has done working with big names like Jockey, Aquelle, P&G
and Amazulu.
It hasn't been all easy for Ntuli. He
has been undermined and has faced a lot of rejection, but has kept going
because he refused to be an ordinary person with ordinary dreams. He says
"when you have this mentality you then have to face a lot of rejection and
people who undermine you." As a way of overcoming his challenges, Ntuli
relies on two solid means: hard work and God. "Mine is to desire and God
then takes care of the desires of my heart. I did not pass matric with good results,
I worked as a car guard to save registration fee to university..." says
Ntuli.
His hard-work ethic also drives him to
be more than what you might on the outside. He elaborates: "whatever
titles I have behind me, I am not just that... As a writer I am not just a
writer but I am a self-published author so this means I don't just
settle."
These days Ntuli is writing about the
AFCON, under the employment of Back Page Media, while also doing sports mental
coaching and running a sports development program at local crèches. Also look
out for mini tours where he will be talking about his latest book 'Why Men
Cheat and Women Do It Better', which is also going to be made into a movie,
soon. Ntuli is also set on Publishing two more books by the end of 2015.
Having been raised in Thembeni
(Groutville) he has not forgotten where he comes from. "I am obsessed
about community development and helping others out. The project that we do in
my organisation called 'Talent Is Never Enough' is very close to my heart
because I get to nurture the natural talent from the dusty streets"
