Lunga Ntuli is more than just a self-published
author, who serves in the DUT Department
of Sports Studies' advisory board, freelances publications like Isolezwe,
GSports and Sunday Times and also works as a sports mental coach.
This serial achiever has served as a
soccer coach instructor, media liason for giant sports bodies, and as a coach
for a women's cricket club - which he started. Also worth noting is the
sponsorship work he has done working with big names like Jockey, Aquelle, P&G
and Amazulu.
It hasn't been all easy for Ntuli. He
has been undermined and has faced a lot of rejection, but has kept going
because he refused to be an ordinary person with ordinary dreams. He says
"when you have this mentality you then have to face a lot of rejection and
people who undermine you." As a way of overcoming his challenges, Ntuli
relies on two solid means: hard work and God. "Mine is to desire and God
then takes care of the desires of my heart. I did not pass matric with good results,
I worked as a car guard to save registration fee to university..." says
Ntuli.
His hard-work ethic also drives him to
be more than what you might on the outside. He elaborates: "whatever
titles I have behind me, I am not just that... As a writer I am not just a
writer but I am a self-published author so this means I don't just
settle."
These days Ntuli is writing about the
AFCON, under the employment of Back Page Media, while also doing sports mental
coaching and running a sports development program at local crèches. Also look
out for mini tours where he will be talking about his latest book 'Why Men
Cheat and Women Do It Better', which is also going to be made into a movie,
soon. Ntuli is also set on Publishing two more books by the end of 2015.
Having been raised in Thembeni
(Groutville) he has not forgotten where he comes from. "I am obsessed
about community development and helping others out. The project that we do in
my organisation called 'Talent Is Never Enough' is very close to my heart
because I get to nurture the natural talent from the dusty streets"
